Paul Christensen and his wife Donna Christensen recently traveled to Charlotte, North Carolina to shoot a television special and record a live CD and soundtrack for one of Gospel Music’s most revered music personalities, Verity Records recording artist, Twinkie Clark.
Ms. Clark is the daughter of the late Mattie Moss Clark, one of the true icons of Gospel Music. Ms. Clark, considered the driving force behind The Clark Sisters success, recorded her first solo album in six years and her first ever long form video. She is a renowned instrumentalist who has set the standard and created trends on the Hammond B-3 organ, a talent which has been recognized in and out of the Gospel arena, as are her abilities as a singer, songwriter and musician. Twinkie Clark is a true pioneer of the Gospel industry.
The project, shot at the well-known University Park Baptist Church, where the Rev. Claude R. Alexander, Jr. serves as Senior Pastor, also featured appearances by Ms. Clark’s musically distinguished sisters, Karen, Dorinda and Jackie. Those fortunate enough to be in the audience for this sold out performance soon realized they were witnessing a truly historic concert… and Omega’s award winning team of shooters were there to spin their magic!
Joseph Burney, Director of A&R for New York based Verity Records, was the Executive Producer of the project along with Verity’s Monica Coates. Omega’s Paul and Donna Christensen served as Video Producers, with the able assistance of Omega’s Ruthel Flunder. The CD and live recording was produced by Cedric Thompson, assisted by Roz Simpson. Carey Goin, Executive Director of Anniston, Alabama based Harvest Media, Inc., directed the live shoot and provided remote television facilities, as well. Armando Fullwood, University Park’s talented Director of Professional Services served as Lighting Director and Sound Designer for the project, with both facilities being supplied by the church. Harvest Media’s Ted White assured the great look of the show by providing Video and serving as Engineer in Charge (EIC). Completing the Omega crew were Andrew Dean, Memphis, on Steadicam and Hand Held Camera, Shayne Parden handling Jimmy Jib duties along with Charlie Faciane on Hand Held Camera. Steve Cobb, Mike Cobb and Sean Williams rounded out the team on Fixed Cameras. Monique Williams graciously produced Ms. Clark’s interview segments with her husband Sean Williams handling camera and lighting chores. Reflection Sound Studios, Charlotte, provided 48 track digital recording for the CD and video soundtrack. Reflection’s Tracey Schroeder engineered the recording with the assistance of Rob Preston and Mike Wattert.
The video was edited by Perry Trest, owner of Post Digital, Inc., Nashville and Miami, in the company’s Miami Avid suite. Reflection Sound handled overdubs and mixing chores for the Live CD and Video soundtrack at their Charlotte facility.
Many of the staff and members of University Park Baptist Church helped make this project a success. Among them were Teddy Andrews, who assisted us with scores of details, Minister Arthur Wilson, who provided moral support and direction and Armando Fullwood, without whom, the project would not have been such a technical success.
Without the assistance of so many local folks, this project would not have happened. Our thanks go out to them.
