The 24th Annual Stellar Gospel Music Awards were handed out on Saturday, January 17th at the legendary Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, Tennessee. Leading the list of winners was chart-topping traditional gospel singer Marvin Sapp with seven awards including “Artist of the Year,” “Song of the Year,” “Male Vocalist of the Year,” and “CD of the Year.” The music from the CD Thirsty became the soundtrack for the DVD shoot produced by Paul Christensen for the Verity/Zomba Label Group and the artist.
Sapp, riding a wave of success due to his crossover R&B hit “Never Would Have Made It” and album Thirsty , took home the night’s biggest honor, “Artist of the Year,” as well as generating Stellar wins for Aaron Lindsey for “Producer of the Year.” and Michelle Lukianovich for “Recorded Music Package of the Year.”
The Stellar Gospel Music Awards will air nationally on March 7 on WGN America and on March 1 on the Gospel Music Channel (GMC).
