For the eighth consecutive year, projects in which Paul Christensen and his wife Donna Christensen served as Line and Television Producer, have been nominated for a Grammy® by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences® (NARAS®). In a special news conference last month at the Beverly Hills Hotel, Los Angeles, the Recording Academy’s President and CEO, Michael Greene, announced the nominations in the Gospel Music Category.
One nomination was for Best Traditional Soul Gospel Album, from a live concert recording and video project for Malaco Records, Jackson, MS, featuring recording artist, Dorothy Norwood, titled “Ole Rickety Bridge.” The second Grammy® nomination for Best Contemporary Soul Gospel Album, resulted from a Verity Records live recording and concert video project involving Hezekiah Walker and the Love Fellowship Crusade Choir, titled, “Family Affair.” Both projects were released as CDs and became the soundtracks for the Long Form Videos produced by the Christensens.
The winners of this year’s awards will be announced during the 43rd Annual Grammy® Awards to be telecast on February 21, 2001. The three hour show will originate from the Staples Center in Los Angeles and be broadcast on CBS-TV at 8 PM (EST/PST). The show will reach a world wide audience of nearly 2 billion people in 180 countries. Each year the nominees and winners are chosen by their industry peers, the 16,000+ voting members of the Recording Academy®.
In addition to the Grammy® nominated sound tracks, the videos produced by the Christensens have enjoyed a high ranking on the Billboard Magazine Video Charts. During the company’s 28 year history, these awards represent the 16th and 17th Grammy® nominations Omega projects have received, as well as the tenth and eleventh nominations during the past eight years.
