Paul Christensen and his wife Donna Christensen were recently in Austin, Texas providing HD Producer services for a live internet broadcast of Dell & Intel’s first-ever Special Engagements on Noisey.com. The event streamed live from the Lustre Pearl Club in Austin, TX, featured the Brooklyn-bred hip-hop prodigy Theophilus London, hosted by none other than Telli Federline from Ninjasonik!
Special Engagements is a completely new kind of live music series that brings the best bands on the planet to unique venues all over the world. The series was kicked off at the Lustre Pearl, a unique bar set in a historic house on Rainey Street in downtown Austin.
The entertainment Brooklyn rapper and producer Theophilus London, fresh from the release of his latest LP “Timez Are Weird These Days.” London threw out a set of high-impact hip-hop culled from a billion influences from New Wave to Punk. The evening was enhanced by host and MC Telli from Ninjasonik.
The concert, for which Omega Productions provided all facilities and crew, was streamed live worldwide to an enthusiastic interactive audience who responded by tweeting shout outs and comments to London on stage.
The project, shot and streamed in HD on Noisey.com, was produced for Vice Media Group, NY, by Vice’s Head of Production, Steven Belser.
New York-based Will Coss directed the event for Vice Media Group. Vice Media’s Jesse Knight handled all the streaming coordination. Omega brought in Dallas Based Video consultant, 3D and HD expert John Johns to serve as Project Engineer. Julia Grubbs was Technical Director for the Event. Andrew Ramsammy served as Stage Manager. Steve Maedl served as AD and assisted as crew chief. Mark Carroll provided Graphics, while John Lunning shaded the show. James Ramirez served as Tape Operator. Michele McKinzie handled A1 duties with assistant Jeff Scott.
Fixed Camera operators were Doug Robb and Charlie Palafax; Hand-Held Camera Operators were Robert Moorehead and Noah Nashite; Eric Young with Bulls Eye Jib provided Jib rental and Operator Services. Tim Kennard, Forrest Production Services, Tulsa, mixed and recorded the show. Dallas based David Friedman served as streaming technician. Coey Hogan, Michael Colin and Jonathan Blaising provided Utility needs.
Baton Rouge, Louisiana based Louisiana Public Broadcasting (LPB) provided mobile HD Television Facilities for the project with LPB’s Larry Allen serving as Engineer in Charge (EIC) assisted by LPB’s Roland Alford as Video Engineer. Forrest Production Services, Tulsa, provided 48 track audio recording facilities. Dallas based NetSteamLive (Patrick Holloway) was contracted to handle the internet link and streaming encoding.
